Writing Stories of Love, Faith and Happy Endings While Enjoying the Journey

Happy Bloggers

My blogging friend, Christy, was the inspiration behind this post.  Recently, she  marked 7000 followers on her inspiring and educational blog.

That night, as I wrote in my Happiness Journal, I noted last year’s entry, which read, “I’m happy I’ve met so many wonderful friends through Word Press.”

As a way to get more interaction among us, I thought it might be fun to share a link to a favorite blog post that you’ve written and tell us why it’s your favorite. Not necessarily, the post that got the most comments, or likes, but the one that made you happiest to write.

Here is one of my favorites.  As I wrote this post, it triggered so many happy memories.

Thanks for participating!

  1. What a wonderful idea, Jill. Here is a post I wrote last year that I am particularly fond of. It tells about my word of the year for last year, Believe, and how I found it in an unusual way. https://scr4pl80.wordpress.com/2017/06/07/in-tune-with-june-believe-it-or-not/

  2. Ah the Jilly Bean post! I loved that post – though I still remain fully deprived of a pet name 🙂 I have no clue about a favourite post of mine though Jill – I can say that very often I enjoy the comment interactions more than the posts. Does that count I wonder?

    • It was fun to write the Jilly Bean post, Pauline. 🙂 I’m happy you enjoyed it as well. Gosh, we need to brainstorm a nickname for you. Perhaps you can write a post requesting suggestions. Then again, Pauline is a beautiful name. I agree, the comment interactions are the best part of blogging. Thanks for stopping by today. Hugs to handsome Siddy! ❤

  4. I realize I did not post a link to a favorite post. Because I absolutely love writing blog posts, choosing one is like picking a favorite among children. I’m going with this one because it matches your question, Jill, about nicknames. I don’t have a nickname, but readers (even those with PhD’s) often misspell my name.

This post takes a lighter view of my plight: http://marianbeaman.com/2015/04/18/whats-in-a-name-2/

Thank you for being so generous on your blog always promoting others, Jill.

  5. Good idea, Jill. Having gone back to the Jilly Bean post, perhaps my choice has to be how I got my nickname: https://derrickjknight.com/2012/07/04/no-one-forgets-a-good-teacher/

  6. Jill, I love this idea and will see which one Was the favourite of mine to write … although this could prove impossible! Oh yes, I remember the Just Call me Jelly Bean post and can’t belive it was nearly two years ago!! A classic and looking through the comments I see I was considering taking up your challenge to write a post about my ‘fair collection of nicknames at univeristy’! Congratulations to Christy in her milestone- that is an incredible amount of followers!! Wishing you a lovely weekend, Jill! 😀❤️🌺

    • Trust me, I understand it can be difficult to weed through old blogs in search of your favorite. I don’t think I’d be able to do that with your posts as I enjoy so many. I know! I was shocked when I noted the date on the Jilly Bean post. Two years goes by in a flash, doesn’t it? I’m thrilled for Christy. Thanks for stopping by to celebrate her milestone. Have a great weekend, Annika! ❤

Jill, you are the queen of connection. I love how you connect your blogger friends. I’m glad to have met you through your wonderful blog.

I chose the post where I talk about why I love fairy tales, since it explains why I write what I write: https://lmarie7b.wordpress.com/2018/01/24/why-i-love-fairy-tales/

    • Thanks, L. Marie! Christy’s milestone really put the idea in my head and then reading my “Happy Post” entry that evening. I appreciate your kind words about connecting bloggers. You know me well enough to know that blogging is my favorite form of social media. You’re a perfect example of someone who I connected with many years ago, and you’ve become an important person in my life. Thank you for that. As for your post, I loved it! I always knew you loved fairy tales, but reading your words gave me a better understand as to why you have this fascination. Thanks for sharing! Happy weekend! ❤

  11. What a great idea Jill! I am posting the one the gave me my first Freshly Pressed recognition. It’s not my typical post (I write a humor blog) but one that touched my heart. It’s about my grandmother who emigrated to America. In today’s world of negativity about emigration, it’s timely. It wasn’t a picnic then and it isn’t now. Here’s to you Grammy! 12. So . . . there is NO WAY I can pick “the” post I had the most fun writing. Too many posts, too little time.

Since I like to laugh, I just searched my blog using the word “hilarious” and this popped into view as the 3rd post on the list:

  14. What fun and gives me (us) an opportunity to reflect on why we post.
I’ve been fortunate to make friends around the world through blogging. I think the post that gave me the most gratification and connection was one I did quite a few years ago after the tsunami in Japan. The post was about the book “The Big Wave”. Quite a bit of time after I wrote it a woman commented. She was Japanese and working with children affected by the tsunami. She was trying to locate the book. We ended up having several conversations, both on the blog post and then through emails, about why she wanted this particular printing and ended up involving several others.

    • Thank you so much for sharing this post, Penny. Isn’t it wonderful when someone relates so much to your words that you end up having conversations outside of the blog? I read her comments and I really hope she was able to somehow got a copy of “The Big Wave.” Enjoy your weekend!

      Like

      • She wanted this particular edition with the artwork. Mine was a library copy and I think the only one in our large library system. She was able to locate this older printing through a connection that came through in California. Yes. It is wonderful when these conversations go beyond the blog and across the ocean and if the story help even one child heal who experienced the tsunami, then it was a good thing.

Your experiment and the results were so interesting. Although I’ve never tracked my hours spent on social media, I know that blogging fills the most time. Other forms, like Facebook, just aren’t as personal. Plus, I’d never know about your amazing travels, if it weren’t for WordPress. Have a great weekend!

There are so many I really don’t care for and they’re still up. 😛 I like the one where I opened up about my infertility struggle. But, then I thought a fun one I liked is the series about when I met my rock and roll idol. As I looked back, I found one I wrote that I’d forgotten about. I read it and it moved me. So, that’s the one I’ve decided to share.

But this post, about truly appreciating our mates, is still one of my all-time favorites: http://shelharrington.com/calling-all-spouses-the-30-day-gratitude-challenge/ Thanks, Jill – for all! 21. What a fun post about the nicknames, Jill. I actually never had a nickname, really, and, like you, I wanted one. When playing volleyball, I was called “Lies” during the games, since that was quicker for my team mates to call out than Liesbet. Outside of the games, I was still Liesbet, because there was already someone else in the second team called Lies. (Pronounced Leez). The only nickname I ever had was one my ex-boyfriend (American) gave me, probably, because he knew I desperately wanted one. He called me LB, short for Liesbet and abbreviation of… “lazy butt”. 🙂

    Liked by 2 people

    • Hi Liesbet! I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I’m surprised no one ever called you “Lizzy.” At first, I liked “L.B.” but you’re definitely not a “lazy butt.” Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the weekend!

      Liked by 1 person

      • I like Lizzy, but it’s not a Dutch name, so nobody would have come up with that when I lived in Belgium. In the US, everyone has a hard time pronouncing Liesbet correctly, so I have been asked whether it is OK to be called Liz. 🙂

If I would have grown up in the US, I’m sure I would have had a nickname. It’s a big thing here – so many names have abbreviations. I didn’t even realize that Pete would be a Peter, or Stan a Stanley, Carol a Caroline… And, I’m not even talking about the Dicks and Richards.
